A good plant for tucking in among your showier shade plants, common wood sedge will also handle most conditions gardeners throw at it. It doesn’t like soggy feet, and maybe the desert would be a bit extreme, but otherwise, it’s pretty happy. It can be a spreader, so if you have a barren area in shade to part sun, this might be your solution. At least you know the deer and rabbits should leave it alone.
