Penstemons aren’t native to the Keweenaw, but they are next door neighbors, and our local insects like them just fine, especially bumblebees. People like them too; such pretty plants really should be grown more often. Hairy beardtongue prefers thin, dry soil in partial shade, but as you can see from the description, it is very adaptable.
