Lovely spires of purple-magenta blooms are knockouts in the summer garden and will really impress the neighbors. Like its cousin, dense blazing star, it likes damp places, so if you are looking for a rain garden plant, you could do worse. But even though it loves the damp, this gorgeous liatris also does just fine in medium soil in the Keweenaw.
