Sacred to the first people to live in the Keweenaw, prairie sage is known for its use in purification and smudging ceremonies. It prefers tough conditions and spreads by rhizomes, so is best planted in an area where it has room to run or alongside other tough competitors. It’s foliage provides a lovely accent in the landscape.
