Description

Save $2 and set a banquet for hummingbirds (and other pollinators) spring into fall with four native plants famous for their abundant nectar.

  • Wild Columbine, for spring
  • Early Figwort, early summer
  • Scarlet Bee Balm, mid-summer
  • Late Figwort, mid-summer into fall

Both columbine and bee balm produce tons of first-rate flowers. While the figworts’ blooms are not showy, their  abundant foliage make them appropriate for the back of the border or tucked away in a nook that needs filling.

None of these plants are fussy, and you could probably plant the Hummingbird Quartet in a group. But since their favored growing conditions aren’t identical, consider scattering them throughout the garden.
