Very pretty and superb for pollinators, White Snakeroot would be a good choice for woodland edges and woods that don’t offer much more than the occasional fern. In particular, it blooms well into fall, providing nectar at time when most flowers have gone to seed. This is also an aggressive plant that likes disturbed sites, so you might want to be prepared to deadhead and pull new shoots, but word is that it settles down and behaves once established. The bitter foliage repels deer and rabbits; it’s also toxic to other mammals, like livestock and humans, so it’s not recommended for planting near pastures.
