Hoary vervain provides a welcome punch of cool blue lavender among the warm colors of summer. Hummingbirds like to travel up and down its spires sipping from the tiny blossoms, and pollinators love it too. Deer tend to give it a pass. While it will reseed, it is not aggressive and can be overwhelmed by grasses in meadow situations. But in the typical yard hoary vervain should hold its own.
